Bacon Dip

This Bacon Dip is full of flavor and is wonderful with crackers and chips.  The bacon dip is easy to make and can stay in a small crockpot for hours during entertaining.

First fry up 6 strips of bacon until it is crunchy.  After it is cooked and cooled, crumble it to small pieces and set aside.

Melt one 16 oz package of cream cheese, 1 cup of sour cream and ½ cup of mayo in a small crock pot.  Heat and stir until it is smooth then add all the crumbled bacon.

Serve the bacon dip warm with crackers or chips.

Liver and Onions

I know Liver and Onions is not the most wanted recipe but it can be made to be very tasteful.  Just season with lots of different flavors and it will be wonderful.

Liver and Onions

I fried up ½ pound of bacon with some onions and peppers.  Take out the veggies and bacon set them aside.

Start by putting egg wash or yogurt in a dish and bread crumbs or crushed up pretzels in another dish.

Put liver in liquid and roll in crumbs.  Heat back up the pan of bacon fat.  When hot put in the coated liver.

Cook for about 10 minutes and flip.  Cook for about 10 more and you can flip it one more time if you need.  When there is 5 minutes left put the liver, onions, bacon and veggies in the pan together.  Heat them so everything is hot.  This is truly the best liver and onions recipe you can find.

Bacon Jam

This is my pinterest pluck for the week.  I took the Bacon Jam recipe from Pinterest and tried to make it.   It was very good but very rich.  I found it works best when used warmed up to coat another food or on something hot like buscuits.   Here is the original link to the pinterest Bacon Jam so you can try it.

Bacon Jam

I followed the recipe from the link and the pictures are below.

I cooked the bacon until it was almost done.  I added some chopped onion and cooked until the onion was cooked.  I then added the ingredients they said to add and cooked on low for a few hours stirring every 10 minutes.  It had to be watched because I think amount of brown sugar in it would make it burn easy if not watched.

I am not a fan of it right out of the refrigerator cold but warmed up on toast or biscuits it is wonderful.

We coated chicken wings with the bacon jam and it was amazing.

We seasoned chicken wings and put them in the oven on 350° for about 60 minutes.  I took the wings out and coated them with Bacon Jam and put them back in the oven for about 20 minutes or until the reach 170° internally.

Amazing.  The were sticky and sweet and had a wonderful bacon flavor.

Tomato Pie

This is a wonderful old fashion recipe lost because of the box era. If it can't be made out of a box we don't like to tackle it. This recipe is easy to follow and I will just write it out.
Easy as Pie.

Tomato pie

Fit a refrigerator pizza crust in a greased pie plate. I use a pizza crust because it is so absorbent and can take the extra fluid from the tomatoes. Cook following directions on package until toasty brown and crispy.  While the crust is cooking you can fry 6 slices of bacon (ok fry the whole package you will need some for snacking).

Slice about 6 large tomatoes and let them sit for at least 20 minutes patting the extra fluid away. Salt and pepper to taste.

When the pie crust comes out of the oven season and cover bottom with mozzarella cheese. Let the cheese melt.

The next level after the mozzarella cheese is a layer of tomatoes then season with whatever you like (basil, Italian seasoning, oregano etc.). Then slice an onion and put half on top of the tomatoes. Crumble up the bacon and put half on top of the onions. Sprinkle a few tablespoons of flour over the tomatoes and onion.

Then a layer of mozzarella cheese starts the process again.

Tomatoes, onions, flour and bacon on top of that with more mozzarella cheese on top.

Last topping is the crusty stuff.

Mix together 2 Cup of cheddar cheese with 1/2 cup of miracle whip or mayonnaise, and 1/2 cup of sour cream.

Top the pie with the mixture of cheese and mayo.

Put in the oven and back on 375 for about 40 minutes. Top crust should be a little brown and crispy.
